Reading these reviews only confirms my determination that UF is highly overrated and that an applicants academic achievements and everything else they work hard for (extracurricular, sports, essays etc.) to impress the admissions counselors is a sham. I took the time to call this department and ask for clarification and some type of feedback and was given a list of nonsensical excuses, not to mention a dozen apologies but none that convinced me they actually evaluate applicants individually. Like most colleges, its about how many years of tuition they can get out of someone rather than wanting the cream of the crop. Would a University rather have a student pay them for 4-5 years tuition and room and board or 2? An applicant that enters with almost 70 credits (enters as a junior) will only stay around for 2 years because they graduate sooner. The university only gets paid for 2 years verses a mediocre student 4-5.... From a business perspective.... which customer (student) would you want? Food for thought....oh and guess what...my kid would not go to this college even if they offered a free ride now.... they don't deserve him.

UF is such an over-rated university. I called them a few times and each time they gave me different answers. One minute into the conversation you can feel they either don't know what they are talking about or they simply don't care. A young lady even started the conversation with a big sigh.

The same issue with their department admission and parking office. Many of their staff members have attitude issues.

UF admissions process is horrible. Just to be clear I do not think I am special to attend UF, but fair is fair.
I won national merit scholar, been top 1% on all tests ever taken, tons of extra activities, volunteer work, community service, student government etc. Many people I know who got accepted had almost no, or far less credentials, and yet they got accepted. I am Asian and feel that I was denied due to race. Now they could not pay me to go there. With an admission criterion like this I believe UF rankings will be dropping quickly in the future.

I base how my college experience would be on how the admissions counselor treats me and whether they are helpful or not. The two counselors I've interacted with have been extremely unhelpful and rude.

I just called the UF Admissions Department and someone picked up immediately, answered my question thoroughly and checked to see if there was anything else they could help me with. That is excellent customer service and I am grateful not to have been put on hold, and not to have been given even one option to press 1 or 2. A real person answered and was courteous and helpful. I couldn't ask for anything better. Thank you!
