My 8 year old granddaughter has been here since 9/4/24 facing Leukemia (relapse). During our stay all staff have been excellent providing the most courteous service. There is someone specifically I would like to thank her name is Brittany who is doing the 7-7 shift on 9/22/24. Her caring method and going the extra mile for patients is something that I value. Empathy should be among the top requirements for working in such a delicate environment, in my eyes she went above/beyond. I definitely can’t be here everyday but knowing my granddaughter is surrounded by this wonderful staff alleviates my worries. Thanks again!

Where do I start? the hospital I come from is and will always be children’s galisano of swfl so I’ll start here Shands children hospital is out of date, the whole building inside and out is outdated with dingy lighting, worn floors and a terrible elevator system. Truly a shame you claim this to be a 1 of its kind type of place for the area but you do it very badly and there are bigger and better more updated hospitals in the state so now With an out of date no care in the world type of interior and exterior it leads me to this, the staff. I see the nurses running out of there can’t blame them I wouldn’t want to be around a bunch of hoodlums all day either screaming yelling joking and cursing. I’ve never seen hospital staff wether
Valet or doctors cursing like I did there. Absolutely pathetic get a grip on it if you don’t like your job then LEAVE ITS NOT HARD!
I move on to this next portion of the parking garage always smells like pot never see security anywhere not once. With all this said I’m moving to the main concern about this I was told this is the only 1 of its kind hospital from here to Tampa all the way too Jacksonville, kind of sad if you ask me if anyone is listening you don’t have tough competition here with Shands uf in fact you might be able to teach them a thing or two on how real professional hospitals work. The triage unit for pregnancy is a joke, they don’t allow kids so if your wife is pregnant you aren’t allowed back or the kids, interesting enough I called and asked why and I was allowed to go back for a allotted amount of time because I called and questioned their policies-liberal covid policies. Bet this place was a circus show when Covid was still a pandemic. Either way I say this it’s a matter of time until everything aligns and the hospital gets shut down so to claims and accusations. Me I’ll never step foot in this hospital again transferred everything down to Tampa general, uf where’s all that money going in the pie? Definitely not the hospital or the policies. I can definitely see that and so can everyone else

There’s no other hospital I would want my children to go to. From the Doctors down to cleaning staff and everyone in between was so good to my Son and our family. My son was in a car accident with A TBI.. They were on top of it and keep us informed the entire time. The confidence the doctors had made us feel as safe as we possibly could considering the circumstances. I could never thank them enough… The Nurses …Every single one of them were great to our Son and us. So Greatful!! Thank y’all So Much!!

Tried to take my son to his 9:20 appointment but was not seen until after 10 and then when I asked ARNP, Bernadine Tibits for a referral to another UF Dr. She told me that was not her job. When the office manager was asked to intervene and well, manage, Lakisha Thomas - I was threatened with UF withholding healthcare for my son. Reported to customer line but just get voicemails. The new management and staff are the reason for the review. Man, do we miss McFadden.

I have 3 small kids so have seen my fair share of ERs/urgent care. I have been to this ER twice in the past 2 months; once for respiratory distress from a viral bronchiolitis (my 2 year old) and once from a broken humerus (my 4 year old). Both times we were triaged and brought back fairly quickly - they do this based on acuity. the nurses were all kind and understanding, gentle with my sick/scared kids and did everything they could to make them feel more comfortable. Each time we have seen a medical student/resident and also an ER physician. With the broken humerus we also saw an orthopedic resident. I suspect the people complaining they didn’t see a doctor , possibly, do not realize residents are doctors. Each time I have had the opportunity to ask questions and been given appropriate instructions. when my 2 year old was admitted, everyone was kind and responsive to my concerns. yes, this hospital is busy but I have not had any experience which would lead to me to think they don’t care about the kids or are negligent. I will say that if you come here for the sniffles, you will probably wait a while. this is appropriate because ERs are more tailored toward emergencies. And when you have a true emergency, you do appreciate that patients are triaged based on acuity.

I absolutely love this hospital! We drive all the way from Tallahassee because they are worth the trip. The doctors, nurses, and the whole staff are amazing. My child has autism and is nonverbal, so there is a challenge when dealing with any issue. They are patient and willing to help find out what was wrong.
The pediatric ER was busy, but we eventually we moved upstairs. My child loved the fries and the breakfast okay for hospital food.

Giving this hospital the benefit of doubt, I went to the emergency room with my 2-year-old son with a fever and a rash that was spreading more and more and the doctor was searching on Google, taking a photo of my son in the area of the rash. The whole solution was that he had an ear infection when his private part was swollen and several parts of his body. If you have an emergency, this is the worst place you can go with your child.

This place is a DISASTER. It is incredibly packed there is never no beds available. Went with my daughter and they basically told us what she had, gave the prescription and said we were free to go. This is suppose to be a hospital they need to focus more on the patients instead of wanting to free up more beds quicker. My daughter was in a lot of pain and we were not going to leave until she was given something. This place is unbelievable, definitely need to changes some things!
